Bar Stock Chamfering Machine
A major U.S. steel manufacturer required tooling for a bar stock chamfering machine to ¼" long chamfer on steel bars ranging from ½" diameter to 2" diameter.
- The customer wanted to be able to chamfer all sizes of bars at
either 30° or 45° as needed.
THE SOLUTION:
A special GEN-DEX tool body holding special GEN-DEX insert holders (4 per set) was designed.
- One set of insert holders chamfers at 30°, the other at 45°.
- They are interchangeable in the tool body and designed to hold standard ½" I.C. triangular inserts
- Two different adjustable tool bodies designed to allow for chamfering of the entire range of the diameters with just two tools.
- Each tool, regardless of the diameter being chamfered would use the same set(s) of insert holders.
